2008 UPVA Creative Excellence Awards – Call for Entries (Updated)

It’s that time of year again. Entries are due next month. preferably at our next meeting December 3rd

All the information is in the above .pdf file. We have extended the entry deadline to our January Meeting (First Wednesday Jan 7th) but please still try to get your entries to us as soon as possible.
You do not need to be a UPVA member to participate, so please tell your videographer friends.
All entries postmarked and/or delivered by hand during the week of the Jan 7th will be accepted.
To help us speed up the preparation process we ask that If you can, please provide a second Data DVD-R of your entry in .avi or .mov format
(HD files are great as well because we are looking into doing an HD presentation at the awards night in March)
label the second DVD the same as the main Video DVD except add “Data” to the end so we can tell the difference. Thanks

Congratulations to Pointe Digital & David Perry Films for taking 1st & 2nd place in the Post-Cermony category of the 2008 WEVA Creative Excellence Awards! UPVA Members have dominated the Post-Ceremony category for the last 3 years, and we truly are making a huge mark in the wedding & event video industry. Congratulations to our winners! We can’t wait to see the winning videos at our next UPVA meeting!

| The 48 Hour Film Festival wrapped up on Monday night with the Awards Ceremony. The team “The Goonies,” lead by Ken and Linda Sorensen of Lifelong Memories, came away with the award for best Sound Design for their film “Lost and Found.” Team members also included Barlow Elton of Lucid HD Media, Dathan Hight of Life Evolves Productions/ Simply Video, and our resident lighting expert Steve Berlin.

| The 6th Annual UPVA Creative Excellence Awards were a huge success this year, thanks to our incredible members who entered and the hard work put in by our out-of-state judges. It definintely was a tight competiton with some very close scores, So close that we decided to have a few select finalists awarded as well. Congratulations to all the winners!

The UPVA is excited to announce the 2008 CEA Presentations.

| The event, now in its 6th year, showcases and recognizes the outstanding talent of independent film makers and videographers in the Utah area, specifically those working in the Wedding and Live Event industry.
This year looks to be the best yet. Not only did the CEA receive a record number of entries but with new advancements in technology and filming techniques, the videos are more refined and cinematic than ever before. Please join us on March 5th, 2008 for the 6th Annual Creative Excellence Awards Presentation. This year’s event will take place at the Megaplex Theaters at the District with finalists’ video being played on the Silver Screen. The private screening will start at 7:30pm and is free with registration at UPVA.org . The evening will conclude with a raffle and an opportunity to meet the filmmakers. So whether you are a bride-to-be, a previous client, a future filmmaker, or friend or family of a current videographer, don’t miss this exciting evening.
